Poetry is a word that comes from a Greek concept equivalent to our concept of creation. The Greeks and other older cultures understood that a poet does more than simply string some words together in intricate patterns.  A poet participates in the sacred act of creation, of bringing forth something beautiful from the primal chaos.

Whether the lines you work with are the lines of a Petrarchan sonnet, the lines of a haute couture blouse, or the lines of a chair lovingly built, you too are a poet.  In those moments when you bring beauty into the lives of others, you are part of the force that makes life an experience of joy worth having.

Maybe someday the world will be full of poets, and everyone will be able to see what I see, that every moment is worth making into something beautiful.  Everything has poetry for me.
